Meet me in St Louie

This month Doug and I have both been traveling for work. Two weeks ago, Doug went to St Louis for a few days and then last week I went to Waco to my VA office for some refresher training. I got just 2 days at home to relax and then had to leave this morning for St Louis to meet with my VA leadership training program. (It's too bad our St Louis trips didn't fall on the same week!) I'll be here until Friday evening. We're supposed to be pretty busy all week, but tonight, I'm just kicking it in my room by myself... I'm excited about getting to know all the people in this program and getting started with the projects and stuff. Sounds like it'll be a lot of work though.

I didn't take this picture, but here's the St Louis Arch... just for effect :)

Also, Recently I joined a book club with some friends from my Relief Society. A few weeks ago, we finished this book - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. I told Kari about it already. It was really good and a pretty fast read. I'd really suggest it.

Husker Power

I think everyone needs to see a few pictures of the insanity we experienced last night. These Nebraskans don't kid around when it comes to football! USC was in town, making it easily the biggest event in Lincoln all year. We set a NCAA record for the most consecutive sellouts (I think in the 280's), and there were almost 85,000 fans there. We arrived at the stadium a mere 2 1/2 hours before the game started and still found ourselves halfway back in the line to get in, even though the doors still didn't open for another hour! It's quite the feeling though, being in the middle of the student section, with the power of red all around you. We got into the fight song and cheers for the first half, which was fun. Then of course came the second half though when USC really showed their dominance, so it got harder to cheer! I wish I could have captured on film all the people in corn hats, painted bodies in overalls, and the extreme amount of tailgaiting that had been going on since Thursday when professors started letting people out of class early to party. Anyway, it was definitely something I'll always remember from our time here in Lincoln.

Front Page News!

Well it is offical. I am going to receive my endowments on the 28th of September and be sealed to my 4 boys on Saturday 29th in the bountiful temple! I am very excited. It has been a long time coming and we are very ready. So... if anyone is going to be in Utah there is an event to attend! Of course I will not be upset if people are unable to attend I realize the short notice makes things difficult. Brad is going to Brasil the first part of October and so we wanted to do it before he takes off to a third world county.

Another mini-vacation in KC

We just got back from spending the weekend in Missouri with my family. On Friday night my youngest brother Owen had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor. It was really cool to see him reach that goal, and be able to celebrate with him. Saturday brought perfect fall weather so we played tennis with my brothers in the morning, and then went to the Royals/Yankees game in the evening with my whole family. It was fun to hang out with everyone, but I'm exhausted and not quite ready to start another work week tomorrow! Anyway, I thought I'd share a few pictures from the festivities.

Red: the color of love

So...on Monday, Doug and I were off work for Labor Day too. To celebrate - we painted. Well, really, I started the project and then he stepped in and saved me hours of labor. What do you think of the new color? I love it!
P.S. I started a blog for Doug and I - http://www.dougandlizzy.blogspot.com/ .
Actually, I wanted to start a blog that I could use to test out some new stuff with the HTML before I messed up something on this blog or our family blog that I couldn't fix. (This last week I've been trying to play with them to add some new features) Anyway, I'm not sure how often we'll post on it, but you can check it out if you'd like. I think it'll be more fun to keep once we have kids and stuff :)

Guess what?!? Ry and I actually got to go on a mini vacation and do you know where and what we did?!? Any guesses? Yep! That's right! We went to Fish Lake to go FISHING...shocker, I know! I think when ever we get a day off, we go fishing! I should probably start putting pictures of other things i do...like work or go to the bathroom?!? Nah, I'll stick with fishing. Okay, so here are some pictures of our latest adventures. We took our camper trailer up, his sister's family brought their camper trailer, and his parents brought the boat and we all had a big camp out. It was AWESOME. I really needed to get away from St. George and work. There is a picture of the valley. A picture of Fremont river that we fly fished in. A picture of Ryan actually fly fishing. In one of our mini side adventures we went into a forest that had initials all over the trees so we added to it. And the last picture is of a sunset sitting on Fish Lake, I caught aHUGE makinaw (AKA: Lake Trout) in there too, sadly it got off of the hook right when it got to the boat, and that is why I am telling everyone it was HUGE. In all it was a great vacation! Until our next fishing adventure...over and out!!!

Ask Red

Ok so here's a few of the older editions for your reading enjoyment. Don't worry I have plenty more...

Dear Red,
A guy called me up for a date and my phone cut out on me right after he asked me, and he thinks I hung up on him and keeps avoiding me now. I would’ve said yes, now what do I do?
Signed,
Confused

Dear Confused,
He’s not avoiding you because he thinks you hung up on him; he’s avoiding you because you have an inadequate phone service provider. I would recommend upgrading your service or switching networks and then you can “reconnect.”
Over and out,
Red

Dear Red,
Relief Society is so great that I can’t stand to leave on Sunday. How can I add more sisterness to my week?
Signed,
Sisterly Love

Paul,
How many times do we have to tell you?Stay out of Relief Society! Please go to Elders’ Quorum.
Thanks,
Red

Dear Red,
If I sit with a guy during Sacrament Meeting, does that mean we’re a couple?
~Inquiring Mind

Dear Inquiring,
Well, that really depends on which side of you he is sitting. If he is sitting to your right, then you’ll surely be engaged in no time. If he’s sitting on your left, proceed with caution as this could be strictly friendship.
Hope he ‘chooses the right’,
Red
