Still Sassy

Lizzy reminded me she hasn't seen these in awhile...thought I should go ahead and post a few for the enjoyment of all ;)

Dear Red,
I want a girlfriend, but I don't have any money. How can I win over a lady without forking over any cash?
Coin Counter

Dear Gavin,
You keep asking but I'm going to tell you the same thing, as usual...get super creative or suck it up and dish out some cash! Trust me; it is a solid investment for your future.
ROI = Eternity,
Red

Dear Red,
Two-thirds of our recently released stake presidency had really great foreign accents but none of the new presidency does. Do you think this means our stake is becoming less diverse?
Accent Awareness

Dear Accent,
Well, I'm pretty sure accents are not a true sign of diversity but if you really feel strongly about mixing things up in the vocal atmosphere, perhaps you should pick up your own accent and start spreading that about. After all, the ladies do love an accent...any accent.
Cheerio!
Red

Dear Red,
I love the ladies and the ladies love me, but at times, there are just too many! How can I thin the crowd without making them all mad?
Too hot to handle

Dear Andrew,
Oh dear, that is like asking how to swim without making a wave - only Gavin can do it, so... yeah, good luck with that. I'm sorry, but this is the price paid for being so awesome.
Sit back and enjoy the ride,
Red

Fall Fun

Aubrey is down for a nap so I finally have a few moments to "blog". Things are going well for us, although as busy as always. Fall is definitely upon us and our tree out front is turning beautiful shades of orange and red.

This is our first fall away from Rexburg though, and it feels a bit weird not to have snow yet, but green lawns instead! Not that I'm complaining, but Steve and I have both commented on how we actually miss our little Rexburg and wish we could visit.

In the spirit of Fall, we went and did a long-standing Kent Family tradition the other weekend. We drove down beautiful back country roads to Sibley Orchards where we have gone for years to pick fresh fall apples, get a jug of their famous cider, pick a pumpkin, and if we're lucky...get a bit of honey comb! It was a gorgeous day and turns out the "fall" clothes I picked out for Aubrey to wear were pretty hot as the temperature was around 82 degrees! Sorry about the longsleeves Aubrey! : )

We went with my mom and brother Owen and had a good time. We got some caramel apples and cider, and then took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch ( which turned out to be only about 200 yards from the orchard barn!) . I seem to remember it being a longer ride, but I was also much younger. We had fun walking around trying to pick the "perfect" pumpkin. We ended up with a big one. I just loved it's long curvy stem and character! Of course, we made Steve carry it back... : ) We had a great time and it was nice to relive on of my childhood fall memories. We'll be back again in the summer to pick blackberries! Until then I'll just start thinking about how we are going to carve this massive pumpkin...

Mark your calendars...

Okay, I just scheduled our ultrasound appointment to find out what we're having. It's December 3rd, so 5 weeks from today you can all start shopping for presents.:) I'm so excited! I seriously have no clue if this baby's a boy or a girl, but it will be fun to finally know so we can actually start planning the nursery and picking out names.

Time Out For Women

This weekend I attending the Time Out For Women Conference and Seminar with my mom and sister. We had a really great time. I wish I had been bold enough to go get my picture taken with my two favorite ladies, Sherri Dew and Hilary Weeks, but I was a lil camera shy... Regardless, the whole weekend I was thinking about how fun it would be to begin planning an '09 reunion for us girls. If we start early, hopefully we can all be there. It would be just like the old days at Ladies Night (except the whole weekend!!) :)

There are several locations and dates to choose from, but I was thinking that going to St George on Nov 6-7, 2009 might be the easiest. I know Katie won't know when she might be in town to visit family just yet (since this is over a year away) BUT I figured these dates might be close enough to Thanksgiving, that it might work for even the Irish to be in attendance. Check out the rest of the schedule below too to see if another location or date sticks out to ya! I also figured St George might be the easiest since Sarah, Kari, and Brooke are already in Utah... Anyway, let me know what you think... Here is the entire schedule and site (http://deseretbook.com/time-out/2009):

January 23-24 - Ogden, UT
March 6-7 - Denver, CO
March 13-14 - Houston, TX and Seattle, WA
March 20-21 - Orlando, FL
May 1-2 - Billings, MT and Edmonton, AB
May 8-9 - Columbia, SC
May 15-16 - Cincinnati, OH
June 5-6 - Pocatello, ID
September 11-12 - Boise, ID
September 18-19 - Logan, UT and Pleasanton, CA
October 9-10 - Phoenix, AZ and Richmond, VA
October 16-17 - Riverside, CA
October 23-24 - Kansas City, MO and Minneapolis, MN
November 6-7 - St. George, UT

Aubrey's First Birthday

So we are alive, but our computer has not been for a little while. But nothing that a lot of time ( and $) at the Apple store couldn't cure!  Anyway, we are back online now and have so much to share! I wrote this as a draft a couple of days ago actually, but we are still having issues with our iphoto so I couldn't attach any pics...but I had to do like a 4 step process to save them to all these different locations to post them, but they're here and there's a lot of them!! : )

We have moved into our beautiful new home (pics to follow) and have been spending every spare moment unpacking, arranging, and decorating. We finally have just about everything done but life seems to keep adding things to my to do list anyway. Things are going well with my tutu business and I am currently working on about 5 orders. I have become somewhat international lately and have now sold and shipped my tutus to Canada, Spain, Guam, Norway, and most recently Australia! Who knew? It's been kind of fun though shipping to foreign locals...

Aubrey somehow along the way has grown up on us and has turned one. I have already had a few teary moments just looking back at her newborn pictures and remembering just how small she was. Sigh.... But she is so fun now and doing so many things. She is a little copycat and loves to "talk" on mommy's phone and brush her teeth with her little toothbrush. She likes to brush her hair with her little brush and gives the best (open mouth) kisses. She loves to wave bye bye and hello, which both look exactly the same by the way. She also gets into in depth conversations with you and will talk with her hands ( where could she have gotten that from? : ) and now nods yes and no, although not really at the appropriate times. She is definitely little miss personality and lets you know when she wants/needs something.

She has actually started turning her nose up at some of the baby food and much prefers to feed herself. She thinks she's a big girl and can eat toddler food. Most recently her favorite foods are bits of deli turkey, rolls, and lots of grapes ( which we painstakingly peel while she squeals!). She gets such a proud little look on her face though when she is feeding herself. It's so cute. She isn't walking yet, but will take straight-legged soldier steps while we hold her hands. She likes to pull up and stand on everything however, and is scooting along the couch now. I'm not rushing her on the walking thing though, she gets into enough trouble without being able to do that!

We had her first birthday party on Saturday. We were so glad the family could come and our friends Matt and Noina and their baby Neida. We were especially glad that Grandma Redd was able to come and spend a few days with us. It was wonderful to have her and Aubrey took to her as though they had never been apart! We had a " cupcake" themed birthday party with orange and pink decorations . I made Aubrey a cupcake applique onesie and a pink and orange tutu for the occasion. We had a yummy luncheon and lots of cupcakes! Everyone got to design their own and Aubrey got the biggest one of all! We had lots of fun and Aubrey just LOVED opening all of her presents. She hasn't been feeling well the past couple of days (fever from teething) but perked right up when she got to start opening her gifts! That a girl!

At first she was a little hesitant to rip the paper, but after a little coaxing she went at it with gusto. She would tear a piece and then look up at all of us as if to say, " So this is ok, right?" and we'd all nod and she'd go at it again. Something tells me I better move my magazine basket out of reach! She got some wonderful presents...clothes, a play piano, a toy table, learning radio, cute books, and lots of hugs and kisses! ( PS...Thanks everyone for the cute gifts!) .

So all in all the party was a success, and at the end of the day she was tuckered out and so were we. She slept the best she has in a while, and it was much appreciated! So Happy Birthday little one...We love you!

memories

I have loved watching conference this year! Especially with the announcement of a temple in KC...very exciting. We actually had tickets to two sessions, but weren't able to attend after all because my morning sickness got the better of me. Anyway, this time of year always reminds me of the fun times we used to have attending Ladies Night together. I think one of my favorites was when we were in Vegas (I think this was just Brooke and Katie and me after Katie's marathon), and we went to the DB down there and gorged ourselves on Great Harvest Bread all night. And then of course when we were all in SLC together, eating at Olive Garden, and attending the festivities at Sarah's DB downtown. Good times! I just wanted you girls to know I was missing you on Ladies Night, and I hope there will be another one together in the future for us.:)

Here are a few pictures we took on a walk in the mountains a couple of Sundays ago.  There aren't too many fall colors this year, because it's been too dry, but there's still plenty of beautiful scenery!  I love living near the mountains again.  We also got a new entertainment center, and it came with a free matching dvd holder.  It's a HUGE upgrade from the faded hand-me-down coffee table that our tv has had to sit on for the past year or so.
