Glee for a Gee

Ok ladies so some of you know...I have a crush on many a boys and I make it known to them, regularly. Don't judge me, I'm 27, I don't have time to play games! There is one boy in particular that I just love teasing - I pretty much live for it. Recently our ward had a Poetry Slam and so I whipped up this little gem in honor of my favorite victim. I totally came with another guy so that was hilarious and the subject didn't even end up showing which was very sad and even more hilarious that I performed it anyway. So basically, the poem left its mark and I thought ya'll might enjoy it. (yeah it would probably be a lot more funny if you knew him, so just imagine)

(originally performed 4/11/08 at the CW poetry slam)

Those golden locks catch my eye
Every time that Gee walks by

Spend some time and you’ll see
He can go on and on of fiscal policy

His hearty laugh makes me giggle
But touch him not for he'll just wiggle

True, his sandals are completely worn
And his pants, ridiculously torn

But that Gavin Gee is quite a man
Ladies, catch him if you can

I know, Dan Jones, we are on a date
And that kiss, you remember, was something great

But in my heart there will always be
A soft squishy spot for that Gavin Gee

And so my thoughts I just had to share
All because of that curly blond hair

THE END!

WE GOT IT!!!

This has been quite the week for us...we are now practically homeowners.:) As of yesterday we are under contract with the home I fell in love with last weekend in Utah. So in just about a month we should be permanent residents of South Jordan. It was a bit stressful since there were two other offers on the house the same day, but I am so relieved that we got it. The house is 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, about 2600 sq.ft. (including the unfinished basement), and has all the upgrades I've been dreaming about as I watch House Hunters on HGTV! In my last post I showed you pictures of the Oquirrh mountain temple view from the front yard, and mountain view from the back of the house. We really think this will be a great neighborhood to start our family in. I made a slideshow of some pictures I took. Keep in mind it still needs carpet, landscaping, and finishing work, but that will all be done by the time we move in. I'm so excited! Now comes the daunting task of picking out (and paying for) all of those appliances and extras that come with owning a new home. Fun, fun. You are all invited to visit!

Aunt Kari comes to visit!

We loved having Aunt Kari (my sister) come to visit on Friday of last week while Kari and  Brett were in town to finalize his job details and to house-shop.

It was so funny because when I showed up to get Kari at her in-law's house we were "twinners." She and I were both wearing navy shirts with khakis...not to mention that they were the EXACT same pair of khakis bought at the same store, in the same week, in the same size! I guess we really are sisters....and it reminded me how much I miss sharing Kari's wardrobe!

Aubrey was just a sweetheart all day and we had a great time together having a "girl's day". We just spent the day at the apartment hanging out, playing with Aubrey, discovering our mutual mini obsessions of the Hills and Gilmore Girls (even though the husbands hate those shows...), and eating Cafe Rio for lunch. I just realized how much I miss seeing Kari all the time and hope we'll get to get together again soon.

it's a GIANT cupcake!

Ok, so I'm not as good at taking pictures with my auto timer as I am at making awesome birthday cakes for my friends... I guess I thought cutting my head off would add some artistic flare. Ha

I made this cake for a friend's birthday last week. I saw the idea in a cake book I perused at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago, and thought it would be fun to make. Turns out...Wilton makes a Giant cupcake mold -- even better!

Hi

Hey guys. I just felt like I needed to post since I haven't in a long time! I also have pictures to share so...Like Kari said, we had a fun time when she and Brett were here last month...they were good sports being awakened by Easton at 5:30am! Thankfully we are out of that little phase and he is sleeping until 6:30 these days. We had a nice conference weekend too. This weekend we are headed to UT for just 36 hours for out niece's baby blessing in Provo. Should be fun. Rob has a trip to Ireland planned right after our UT trip and then we'll be livin' it up in Kentucky.
Looks like we are headed to Ireland the 3rd week of July...good to have a date to work with but I am wary to plan on it since Rob's company keeps changing things around on us. We are going to a Lakers game this Friday with Rob's work and I'm pretty excited about that...we get to sit in the box seats with unlimited food and drinks...keep the Diet Cokes comin!
I have been working on a quilt for my sister's birthday for a couple of months now. I finally finished it! It was the first quilt I ever really did by myself and I am quite proud of it. So here are pics of that (probably 2 too many) and some of Easton on Easter. We got him a little suit and he looked pretty adorable. I am sad that I won't meet Mason and that you all won't meet Easton in KC but not sad enough to want to bring him along!

our latest travels

So we've pretty much been living out of a suitcase for the last two weeks. We spent 8 days in Southern California at the end of March, enjoying beautiful warm, sunny weather. I lounged at the pool in Long Beach while Brett attended a conference for work. It was a really nice hotel/area, and they were actually filming CSI:Miami there. It was exciting to see all the actors I'm used to watching on tv every week! We were also able to spend time with Rob, Katie, and Easton (who is very cute and so entertaining!), go out to dinner with Danny, and enjoy a fun day at Magic Mountain. This last weekend we were in Utah. Brett had more work meetings while I spent some quality time with Kristen and Aubrey. We also attended his mission reunion, visited our niece and nephews, and went house hunting. After a marathon day of driving all over the Salt Lake Valley we actually found a house that we love. We're still trying to sort out a few details to decide if we want to put an offer on it, but it definitely made me even more excited to finally be a home owner! I've been a slacker on the picture taking, but here are a few at least. I'll keep you updated if we make any decisions on the house.
